Walking into The Village Church, you will see a welcome center, more commonly known as “Connection Central,” before you make your way to the worship center. The individuals who serve in this ministry are called “Connectors,” and their purpose is to serve you. They have been praying for you and expecting your arrival.
Some of you are already familiar with these individuals and what our welcome center is all about. But many of you aren’t. Here are three things you need to know about Connection Central:
1. This is a safe place to ask questions.
Maybe you’ve been to a church where you felt like the people surrounding you had this whole thing figured out. Maybe you felt as though you were on the outside looking in. Every person serving in Connection Central has experienced this same feeling at one point in their lives. They’ve had questions about Christianity, how to get involved in community, who benefits most from Recovery Groups and when the church meets for prayer.
The Village is a place where it is safe to not have all the answers, and Connection Central gives you a great opportunity to work through some of your questions. The folks want to connect you with someone to talk with.
2. You belong here.
When you look out at those serving in Connection Central, you will see a group of diverse people. Sure, you may notice cultural and ethnic diversity, but as you scan their faces, notice that they don’t represent a church built for one type of person.
You have accountants and seminary students, nurses and teachers, poor and rich, sophisticated and simple, intellectuals and gym rats, young and old.
We want to put our best foot forward, displaying that God saves people from all sorts of backgrounds. Maybe next time you are cruising through the lobby, you will get a chance to stop by Connection Central to share your story and hear one in return.
3. We have something to say.
The pastor isn’t the only one with good news to share. The “Connectors” stand with open arms, extending an invitation. They are inviting you to hear about the grace of Jesus Christ, the beauty of Christian community in the local church and the unique mission and vision that God has given each of our campuses to make disciples through gospel-centered worship, gospel-centered community, gospel-centered service and gospel-centered multiplication.
In a large church, it’s easy to feel as though you are merely one more person in the midst of the crowd. But know this: We know that you matter to God. We want to serve you and listen to your questions, helping to direct your gaze to Christ. The “Connectors” stand ready, eager for a chance to chat with you. Take them up on the offer. We can’t wait to get to know you.
