Life Story
I was primarily raised by my grandparents in North Texas. When I was 7, I was invited to Vacation Bible School at a local church. I remember hearing a lot of “church” phrases that didn’t make sense, but what did resonate was that I was a sinner and that Jesus had paid for that sin on the cross. My home life was rocky, and I felt so drawn to the loving God who had made such a sacrifice so that I could be a part of His family. I accepted Jesus as my Savior and for the first time, I felt like I belonged somewhere. The local church welcomed in a lonely, often anxious little girl, and I was loved well.
Over the years my family dynamics often shifted, and as I navigated the awkward years of junior high and the high-pressure years of high school, the Lord was kind to me. He was my constant, my Rock in all of the change, and He protected my mind and heart as I navigated those difficult years.
My husband, Nate, and I met in September 2006, and after two years of friendship and serving together at church, we became aware of God’s plan for us to have a future together. In March 2009, we were married, and over the next seven years we were blessed to have three sons and one daughter.
In 2017, we felt called to The Village Church despite living in McKinney. We began attending Sunday mornings and eventually started attending Recovery on Wednesdays. Through Recovery and Steps, I realized that I was finding my identity in my marriage and family. God worked on me through many sleepless nights and some amazing people. He healed my family in ways I didn’t anticipate.
I love being a wife and mom and feel so blessed to be able to teach my children that I am a better wife, mom, and friend when God is first in my heart. I am so grateful to also serve in the Kids Ministry, sharing with the youngest of the Church that God is good and that our good God loves them and wants them to be a part of His family.
Hope for The Village Church
My hope is that we would be a welcoming community where individuals and families are loved well and can heal, grow, and learn together, and that generations to come would be blessed by the healthy foundations built today. I pray that we would equip disciples of all ages to go out and share the truth of God’s redemptive love in local communities and throughout the world.
